Alison Sudol
Music is not something where I felt feminine and so accepting the new feminine standards is quite a problem. Being able to be strong, feminine, and soft, and still maintain a healthy lifestyle, without reducing myself, was not an easy one for me. It was lots of enjoyable to put on heels, dresses, fabrics and curls every day. I'm an actress who is younger than everybody else [in Fantastic Beasts] and there was plenty of pressure that I had to face. This was quite a shock, but I felt a force pushing me up. I could either be crushed or collapse from the intensity with which I wanted to play this character and the sheer size. I can spend entire days wandering around, visiting museums, parks and coffee shops and just observing individuals. London is a city in which you are surrounded by people. In LA it's not always a crowded however, you're in the middle of everything. I love watching the people around me. I come from the music industry, that is where you're always in the presence of men and you feel like you're surrounded by intimate relationships all the time working with males. It's a surreal, wild nightmarish. I've read the whole collection. I read some of the books on tour, actually I really enjoyed it having that type of universe to escape to, because when you're on tour, you're always moving from one city to the next and it can get quite disorientating, and then being able to escape to an incredibly vivid and vibrant world sleeping in my bed at night is truly a dream.
